A prime example of the Gaïtis's trademark little man (anthropaki) series, which made him well-known internationally. His identical little men, symbols of middle class propriety and alienation, dominated his work from the late 1960s and appeared in the film Gaïtis le Baladin (1971) in collaboration with director Serge Bergon. They can be seen also in the Athens metro station ‘Stathmos Larissis.’ The artist exhibited widely abroad and in Greece, where he returned permanently in 1974 and where he died a decade later in Athens, a week after the opening of his major exhibition at the Athens National Art Gallery.
