Typed Letter Signed – "Dear friend, I don't take a regular size in any article of clothing", 1970

Two-page typed letter signed from the dazzling American movie star on her personal letterhead to Charles Frederickson, remarking on her Pepsi tour and her "irregular" clothing measurements. Boldly signed, "Love / Joan", with a postscript in her hand, and dated January 27, 1970. In part, she writes: "You asked what size jacket I take. Dear friend, I don't take a regular size in any article of clothing. My measurements are as 'irregular' (shall we say) that I can't wear anything off the rack, so all my clothes have to be made to order." Together with an original promotional photograph of Crawford and Clark Gable for their 1933 film, Dancing Lady. Light rippling to sheets, deep vertical crease to matting (right side), mildly affecting the letter's second sheet; overall fine. Letter Pages: 6 x 6 inches (15 x 15cm). Photograph: 8.5 x 7 inches (23 x 18.5 cm). Mat: 14.5 x 27 inches (37 x 68.5 cm).
