Gelatin silver photograph of the famed Spanish matador Luis Miguel Dominguin whirling his cape around a bull, signed in blue ink "Picasso 12.10.58 / Pour Madame Tamde." Stamped on the verso by the photography studio Photo-George, Arles and signed additionally by the matador himself in blue ink. 18 x 24 cm. Corners worn, small pinhole and tear to upper edge, else fine. A striking image.

Bullfighting was a subject Picasso returned to frequently in his artwork, particularly from the mid-1950s, and was also one of his favorite spectator sports.  He was a friend of the celebrated matador Luis Miguel Dominguin (1926–1996) depicted in the present photograph.
